What can I say?
Willful Ignorance is as dangerous as the enemy.
What can I say?
Today is November 6th, 2023 and I heard from a buddy today that some friends bought him a new Hot Wheels collectible truck that matches his actual truck. I heard from another friend that she found the perfect color to paint her living room. Yet another told me about a cruise he and his wife went on last week.
Is there anything wrong with any of these things? Well, that depends. Folks are living life. Did I hear any of them mention the attack on DC that was allowed to happen this weekend? Nope, not a peep. Did I hear anything from any of them about the Tennessee Massacre Manifesto that was leaked today and what it said? Nope. Not even a blip on the radar. Did any of them mention the Police State movie I sent them a link to? Of course not, no doubt they scrolled right past it.
Willful Ignorance
Granted, I only gave three examples above of disinterest, or more appropriately, willful ignorance, among a few of my contacts. I believe this illustrates a larger issue that I notice on a daily basis as our country rapidly gets closer and closer to a Communist Dystopia. I can’t seem to understand this.
Nobody in my immediate sphere of influence outside of social media, appears to be paying attention to the world around them, and if they are, they are still swallowing, ignorantly, whatever the “Mainstream,” thought-controlling, media is pumping down their throats, or simply not paying attention to anything at all. I hesitate to use a Matrix reference, but I think it fits. I’m finding that most of the people I encounter on a daily basis are still plugged into the false reality of “The Matrix.” Sadly, it seems they will have to be jerked out of their comfy little bubbles and into reality sometime soon.
Just Scratching the Surface
I send out articles on a daily basis that highlight attacks on their Liberty, like the flood of illegals at the border, describing who is perpetuating that loss such as NGOs like Red Cross and Catholic Charities, and profiling those that are also trying to illuminate existential threats to America like Tucker Carlson, and Michael Yon. Having given up Facebook, never having used Twitter, and cutting out mainstream media long ago, the list of folks I send information has shrunk significantly.
Is Anybody Listening?
I began paying more attention to and discussing politics in 2008, when Obama was “elected” and I was beginning the nightmare of Social Work Grad school, which I will discuss in an upcoming essay. Honestly, there are now only two people I regularly send things to anymore, my wife and my Sister-in-Law. My wife, is focused on her business and can’t read everything I send her. My Sister-in-Law puts a lot of energy into writing blogs, engaging locally in politics in her area, and participating on various podcasts, so I know she can most likely only scan headlines for pertinent articles. I have 5 older brothers, none of them are interested at all, but being the annoying little Brother, I send them things randomly anyway. One told me long ago (circa 2010) “You’re way overboard on politics.man, It’s not healthy.” Yet today, when I do hear from him, he complains about how bad my home state of Washington has gotten, as if I didn’t already know and warn him. Few of my old Marine Corps brothers seem interested or engaged either, which blows my mind. So I only hear from a few of them on the Marine Corps Birthday. Anyone else I might have made contact with, maybe from my college days, a handful of neighbors, or even the guys replacing my roof, have no idea what is happening in the world around them and make it clear they have no interest, or ability to engage in discussion. It’s almost as if people are in a hypnotic trance.
The Threat
As we watch thousands upon thousands of illegals pour over the border, food, housing, and energy costs sky-rocketing, crime becoming a real pandemic, patriots arrested by the FBI and imprisoned with no due process, and BLM/Antifa “Brown Shirts” rioting and destroying cities with zero accountability, I have entered a pretty lonely realm where there is no real place to turn to discuss. Hence, my desire to write my thoughts and submit them here on Substack.
No More Gentle Nudging
What can I say to people that aren’t interested in knowing that they are under attack from every possible angle, and don’t seem to recognize it or even care unless it’s at their door? Sadly, I’ve resolved to just say “Good Luck” instead of gently coaxing people to wake up. I won’t stop, but I’m not a fan of wasting time either. I just don’t have that energy anymore. I don’t think I’m alone in this. Am I? I don’t yet have a solution, or I wouldn’t be writing this. With all this said, I’m left with one constant question…

You are not alone. Your experiences mirror mine. I don't understand why they have become complacent, bc their futures are at stake. Maybe it's too much.
It is said that we are borne for such a time, each of us individually. Maybe it's finding their niche in all of this, their wee little part as they become more aware.
One dear friend always brings joy- Maybe that's her part, since I tend to also dig deep like you. Some continue carrying the volunteer work I've been part of (there is so much strife, loss of work, loss of housing, mental health (get off the dang s media!). While it pains me to hand it off, this year I have spent more time handing off news that appears noteworthy, and writing my representatives.
We all have a place to fill in these dubious times, even if we can't look it in the eye yet.
I so thankful for my friend's joy, so can't get me out of my head. I really miss being able to think and care about the color of the rug or wall or whatever menial thing that was on fb that day- there was a peace about how do you go back when you know so much?
I live in Portland, Ore., where the pleasure principle thrives — even as the city disintegrates. There’s just too much fun to be had in America. Some of it is drug-fueled, but some of it is just the privilege of living in America. No wonder so many desperately poor people want to come here from other countries.
Of course, eventually, Americans are going to wake up to an amazing new world. No more America as we know it. They will miss their American privilege — blacks in particular.
