You are not alone. Your experiences mirror mine. I don't understand why they have become complacent, bc their futures are at stake. Maybe it's too much.

It is said that we are borne for such a time, each of us individually. Maybe it's finding their niche in all of this, their wee little part as they become more aware.

One dear friend always brings joy- Maybe that's her part, since I tend to also dig deep like you. Some continue carrying the volunteer work I've been part of (there is so much strife, loss of work, loss of housing, mental health (get off the dang s media!). While it pains me to hand it off, this year I have spent more time handing off news that appears noteworthy, and writing my representatives.

We all have a place to fill in these dubious times, even if we can't look it in the eye yet.

I so thankful for my friend's joy, so can't get me out of my head. I really miss being able to think and care about the color of the rug or wall or whatever menial thing that was on fb that day- there was a peace about how do you go back when you know so much?

I live in Portland, Ore., where the pleasure principle thrives — even as the city disintegrates. There’s just too much fun to be had in America. Some of it is drug-fueled, but some of it is just the privilege of living in America. No wonder so many desperately poor people want to come here from other countries.

Of course, eventually, Americans are going to wake up to an amazing new world. No more America as we know it. They will miss their American privilege — blacks in particular.
